The club’s guest speaker on May 22 is Chris Till, M.A (Oxon.), MHRINZ. Chris Till was educated at Woking College, UK, Kingston University, and Oxford, in law and jurisprudence. He is a former Group Manager HR at NZ Post and the Christchurch City Council. In his role as chief executive of the Human Resources Institute, he takes the pulse of what is happening in the New Zealand world of work by meeting institute members across New Zealand, business and union leaders, other CEOs, conference and summit attendees, board directors, politicians, government officials and people from all walks of life. What he has found is rising tension caused by the 24/7 “always on/more with less” factors that combine to make contemporary working life very arduous and difficult for many people. Employers are feeling the strain, too. Is there a solution? He argues that we need to stop being dictatorial and put the human back into human resources. A not to be missed event!
