CBC Keynote Speaker
Our speaker on 13th February 2017 is Garth Gallaway, noted cricket & wine commentator and lawyer specialising in insurance-related and civil litigation as partner at Chapman Tripp, Christchurch.
He has extensive experience in advising clients on professional indemnity, statutory liability and public liability insurance. He frequently acts for solicitors, accountants, real estate agents, valuers and a range of organisations in professional negligence proceedings. Garth is also experienced in alternative dispute resolution, especially mediation. In addition Garth has a particular expertise in health and safety matters having acted for employers in hundreds of serious harm accident investigations.
He has been elected chair of the Arts Foundation of New Zealand and is a former member of the Film and Literature Board of Review. He is a trustee of the Christchurch Art Gallery Foundation and Honorary President of New Zealand Football. Garth also chairs the board of the recently-formed Māia Health Foundation.
Since 1996 he has been a member of Radio Sport’s cricket commentary team.
