Lee Germon – ‘The Business of Canterbury Cricket’
Our guest speaker on April 10 is the Chief Executive of Canterbury Cricket Lee Germon, whose address will look at the business dimension of cricket. Lee is a former New Zealand cricketer, who captained the side during a critical period of rebuilding. Regarded as the best wicketkeeper in the country, he had led Canterbury to victory in the Shell Cup 50-overs in 1991-92, 1992-93, 1993-94, 1995-96 and 1996-97. They also won the First-Class competition thrice. He was the 32nd cricketer to lead the national team on Test debut. His international career included 12 Tests and 37 One-Day Internationals (ODIs). A highlight was squaring a series against England. He retired from the game at 29 and has become a leading sports administrator and led Canterbury Cricket through the development of the stunning new cricket ground Hagley Oval.
