Martin Hadlee, Eden Project NZ Trust Chairman
Martin Hadlee is a Fellow Chartered Accountant and has been a member of Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand since 1971. He graduated from the University of Canterbury with a B.Com and during his professional career with KPMG in Christchurch, he held numerous positions including Partner in Charge of Business Advisory Services and Taxation and Managing Partner of Hadlee Kippenberger and Partner from 1999 to 2004. Subsequently, he established his own consulting practice as Principal Consultant and Director specialising in advisory, trustee and director services.
His positions in public life have covered a wide range of community based service organisation roles including independent accountant and treasurer of RATA Foundation ( formerly known as The Canterbury Community Trust) for 21 years, over 8 years as trustee of Christchurch Methodist Mission, 13 years as Secretary of St John’s Property Committee, numerous roles within the Jaycee organisation having being awarded a Senatorship in 1980 and a Jaycee International Presidential Medallion for Outstanding Leadership in 1985.
He currently serves as a South Island Committee member of the General Medical Practitioners Fees Review Committee.
He has held professional roles in arts, education and heritage organisations including arts festivals for Christchurch and Japan, Scape Public Art, a number of scientific trusts, Ferrymead Park, the Canterbury Museum Trust Board, Rutherfords Den Trust Board, Rangi Ruru Girls School, Chair of Core Education Charitable Trust and Treasurer (and latterly trustee) of the Arts Centre of Christchurch Trust Board for 41 years.
Martin has been involved in sports administration for many years serving in various positions for the High School Old Boys Cricket Club, the Hagley Parks Grounds Committee, the Jellie Park Aqualand Sports Institute and the Russley Golf Club as chair and trustee of the Development Trust.
Finally, Martin has had many professional roles and positions within the Canterbury development and tourism sectors having been the independent Treasurer and financial advisor for the Canterbury Tourism Council (now ChristchurchNZ), Chair of Canterbury Development Trust, Chair of Cashmere Forest Park Campaign ( predecessor of the Bike Park development project) and more latterly, Chair of the Eden ProjectNZ Trust.
